The 2018 Mardi Gras Ball...was a BALL!!

The Mardi Gras Ball’s success is certainly due in part to the court couples and their fundraising. However, it is also successful in large part to all our guests, board members, program speakers, band and Embassy Suites staff. We have so many to thank. We are indebted to our sponsors this year, we had a whopping 27 corporate sponsors. Special thanks to Pinnacle Financial Partners for sponsoring the band, DirectorCorps, Inc. for sponsoring the cocktail hour, Buerger, Moseley and Carson PLC for sponsoring the fun, new grand entrance and Franklin American Mortgage for sponsoring the red carpet!

There were several new 'features' to the Ball this year...from the photo/selfie booth, new opening parade, new decor, new emcee and live auction and door prize drawing. The excitement level was high by the time the band began playing, “When the Saints Go Marching In” ...the party was well underway!

We were fortunate to have former Miss Tennessee, Hannah Robison, assist with our red carpet revue. Our Executive Director, Tina Edwards, made a heart-felt plea to be a part of the story for these boys in our care.. now and in the future. Our program emcee is a well-known fixture in the country music circles. Shawn Parr, the voice of Dick Clark Productions, the American Music Awards, the Golden Globes and the Academy of Country Music Awards, brought the house down with his lively personality and quick wit. He brought lots of energy and excitement to the evening.

As the program wound down, the court couples were ‘feathering up’...and funds were being tallied. It was time for the revealing of the new King and Queen of Mardi Gras Ball 2018! The red carpet was ready and the totals were announced. Steve and Stacy DeSoto reigned as King and Queen of a closely contested campaign. The Greg and Darci Ceasar came in second, J. Edward and Brenda Campbell placed third in the standings, and the Bodden sister, Baley and Blair were in fourth. The fabulous Gary Jenkins and the Thundering Hearts cranked up the music, the red carpet was cleared and the real party got underway! The band kept the tunes coming and there was no shying away of anyone from the dance floor. Thank you one and all for making it a spectacular evening, and for sharing generously to support the boys and programming at My Friend’s House Family & Children’s Services, Inc.
