THANK YOU

GivingTuesday was Tuesday, December 1, 2020. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

At this time, we have raised $8175!
THIS IS AMAZING!

But you can still give!

We shared several stories of hope, success and restoration. You can find these stories on one of our social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn) and see the impact My Friend's House can have on our residents. We have posted one below.

If you gave, WE THANK YOU! If you were wanting to, you still can!

Pathways to hope...

KEYSHAWN

Keshawn came to My Friend’s House with an attitude – a very negative attitude. Keshawn had been in state custody for many years and in a variety of programs. He had no parental support, no exit strategy, and he could not envision a bright future for himself.

Then, two things happened. Keshawn’s older sister started talking with the Department of Children’s Services about bringing Keshawn into her home. And, a tough conversation convinced Keshawn to start taking his medication he had stopped taking. Within a few weeks, Keshawn’s attitude made a big u-turn and he became much calmer. Keshawn began verbally expressing his goal of going to his sister’s home and completing our program. Keshawn began using language skills to resolve conflict rather than his fists. Keshawn talked often about the habits he needed to change as a means to remind himself of the changes he had to make.

Over the next few months, Keshawn evolved quickly into a happy teen boy with a bright future. This is one of the biggest, most visible turnarounds we have witnessed in the last year with a resident. And, it’s because a lost young man found HOPE. Hope that he did have a home and a family member who cared about him. Hope that the staff at My Friend’s House believed in his ability to change and encouraged him to do so. And, hope that he could live like a regular teen, attend high school, play football, and get his learner’s permit. HOPE transforms lives. YOU can help us today by make a donation that will allow us to keep providing HOPE.
