Ellen & Mason Hart

Ellen is a 7th generation Franklin girl, and Mason is from Washington DC. We met on move in day of freshman year at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. Although Mason asked Ellen out two times previously, Ellen finally said yes the third time. 328471 Sigma Chi and ADPi functions later, we were married on June 17, 2017 at Carnton Plantation in Franklin.

Ellen loved growing up in Franklin... and she's happy to tell you ALL about it. Her blood bleeds orange, and she sang Rocky Top with a coordinated dance in multiple talent shows as a child. She attended Battle Ground Academy- Go Platos!  Although originally a pediatric cardiovascular intensive care registered nurse, Ellen now works for her family business, Joslin Plumbing and Heating. She is currently pursuing her MBA at Louisiana State University Shreveport. While she does not know what on earth possessed her to go back to school, she is excited to continue Joslin Plumbing and Heating's legacy with the third generation.

Although he grew up in Washington DC city limits, Mason is an avid Oklahoma fan. Boomer Sooner! He agrees with Ellen that there is only one UT worth mentioning.  Although he began his career as a CPA with an international firm, Mason now works for his family business, Hart Health Strategies, as a consultant. Mason is the better cook of the two. In fact, he owned his own catering business in high school! He loves to flaunt his Italian roots and cook home-cooked Italian when he has time. Mason is also an avid Washington Nationals fan. While his trip to the World Series did not result in a win, he cheered from the couch when the Nats beat the Astros in game 7.

We have two dogs, Brooks Wallace and Reagan Ronald, and we have a revolving door of foster dogs through Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue. In fact, when we had been married for six months, Ellen found a pregnant dog, and we raised ELEVEN puppies in our guest bedroom- talk about an interesting first year of marriage! Our current foster's name is Bonnie Roo. She's 16, loves to sleep, and prefers Ellen (sorry, Mason!). If our parents read this, we know you want grandchildren, but for now... You have two really cute, furry grandchildren!

We're avid skiers and love adventure and travel. Mason enjoys doing woodwork AND is currently redoing our kitchen. Ellen is happily ordering takeout in the process. We love to say we're going to workout, but we never really follow through... Maybe next year!

We first heard about My Friend's House through Ellen's parents, Donna and Drew Williams. We immediately fell in love with the organization. The Mardis Gras ball is one of our favorite events of the year. We are committed to being active participants not only through our fundraising campaign for Mardis Gras Court but also supporting the boys throughout the year with our time. We are so humbled and honored to be chosen for this year's Mardis Gras court.

While you have many options for your vote, you should vote for us! We're just a dog-obsessed, still-trying-to-figure-out-our-twenties, laughing-our-way-through-first-years-of-marriage couple!

 Cheers!
