We are Dr. J.A. and Kathy Reynolds and we are so glad you dropped in to learn more about us.  We are thrilled to be members of the 2020 Mardi Gras Royal Court!

We want YOU to be a part of our story!  How, you ask?  Well, just like we ask our patients to “ Open Wide”, we are asking you to open your hearts and we promise it won’t hurt a bit!

May we start at the beginning and tell you the story of us?

J.A. and Kathy’s families have been in the Middle Tennessee area for over 100 years.  The couple were actually born in the same town, same hospital and even by the same doctor!  However, as fate would have it, they would not meet until 20 years later while attending the University of Tennessee at Memphis.  While in school, the closest they would ever come was J.A. coaching Kathy’s class softball team.  He taught her how to hit to right field.

Fast forward some eight years, Kathy was practicing dental hygiene in her hometown of Columbia, TN and J.A.’s dental practice was in Brentwood.  They met again at a dental conference in Atlanta.  That weekend they laid the foundation for a friendship as they shared details of the past,  the present and what they hoped for their futures, (while not thinking it would be a future together).  That friendship has now lasted more than 32 years.  J.A. and Kathy were married in January of 1987.  Along with the marriage came a precious package for this bachelor from Franklin.  That gift was Kathy’s beautiful blonde four year old daughter that made their new family complete.

They both graduated from the University of Tennessee at Memphis, Kathy in 1979 with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene and J.A. in 1981 with a D.D.S. in Dentistry.  J.A.’s practice has been in Williamson County since graduation. Kathy left her practice in Columbia to join his practice in May of 1987 as his first and, in his opinion, the best hygienist ever!  They have been blessed also with two sons, John and Baker.  In the past two years all of their children have moved back to Middle Tennessee with their families, giving J.A. and Kathy some time with their four grandchildren.

J.A. has been Past President of the Nashville Dental Society and Immediate Past President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

They both enjoy golf, time at the lake and activities with the family.  Members of Fourth Avenue Church, they have served as youth teachers and Kathy has served on the Praise Team and Security Team.  Their love for giving back stretches from Kathy’s mission trips to J.A. ‘s gift of dentistry with the Interfaith Dental Clinic and Give Back a Smile, a program for men and women who were victims of domestic abuse.  They are also charter members of the Downtown Franklin Rotary Club where their son, John, now serves as President and Kathy as Membership Co-Chair and Co-Chair of the annual “ Jockey & Juleps Kentucky Derby Party” which focuses on raising money for our local community.   My Friend’s House is one of the signature organizations supported by the DFRC.

The couple actively support Habitat for Humanity via volunteering at builds, international food projects to fight hunger, and various hands-on Pop-Up Volunteer Projects like landscaping a local school’s nature playground.

Now going back to how can you “ Open Wide”…the Mardi Gras Ball is the major fundraiser for My Friend’s House.  We are asking you to open your hearts and support the mission of My Friend’s House.  Join us in helping these deserving boys continue to shine and grow into the lights they are destined to be in our community and the world.

We hope you will consider contributing in our name by visiting the link for donations.  Whether it is making a financial donation via purchasing a ticket, a table, or many of the other ways to donate, we are sincerely  appreciative of your support.

Working together, we can build on the legacy of love and dedication to youth started by a local judge and her friend years ago.
